ABAC’s Georgia Museum of Agriculture is where history comes alive through our interactive experiences! The Visit to the Past Workshop or Self-Guided Tour are ideal for schools seeking a historic field trip for their students. Homeschool associations, co-ops, and groups can enjoy a tailored experience through the Homeschool Workshop.

Visit to the Past Workshop

Take your students on a trip back in time with our Visit to the Past Workshop featuring a provided itinerary, costumes, and homemade lunch!

Details

  • Costumes provided for students (suspenders/skirts & aprons).
  • Includes an authentic homemade lunch consisting of homemade chicken purlieu (a traditional chicken and rice dish with vegetables), cornbread, strawberry jam, butter, sweet pickles, pound cake, and water.
  • Itinerary of visits to sites with costumed interpreters providing interactive activities.
  • Visit to the Past Workshops are $16.50 per student.
  • Programming is available Tuesday-Friday during the months of September-December,  and February to May from 9:00-3:00, depending upon the group’s arrival & departure times. The Museum is closed on Mondays.
  • A minimum of 4 hours is required for a Visit to the Past Workshop due to the time needed for costuming, orientation, site visits, and lunch.
  • Groups must have a minimum of 10 students to participate in a workshop. For groups with less than 10 students, there is a minimum fee of $165.
  • For groups with more than 100 students, please schedule two days for your visit.

Self-Guided Tour

The Self-Guided Tour allows groups to explore the Museum at their own pace while learning how people lived and worked in a rural Georgia Wiregrass community during the last century.

Details for Self-Guided Tours

  • Groups tour the GMA at their own pace with group leaders (usually teachers) provided by the school.
  • Tours include costumed interpreters providing interactive experiences and demonstrations.
  • Tours are $8 per student.
  • Programming is available Wednesday-Friday during the months of September to December and February to July from 9:00 am -3:00 pm, depending upon the group’s arrival & departure times. The Museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Groups must have a minimum of 10 students to participate in a tour. For groups with less than 10 students, there is a minimum fee of $80.

Homeschool Workshop

Perfect for homeschool associations, co-ops, or groups, the Homeschool Workshop immerses children and adults in the life of the past for a day! This experience includes a provided itinerary, costumes, and homemade lunch!
