Each summer, Camp Wiregrass offers week-long sessions to learn more about agriculture, history, and natural resources through exciting activities and engaging experiences. Camp begins in late May and runs through the end of June.
Learn about the wonderful things that agriculture provides for us in our everyday life. Experience some of the tasks that farmers undertake, and get hands-on with crops and animals. Campers will milk a robotic cow, shear a shaving cream sheep, work in the garden, build a miniature house, and more fun activities.
While studying the needs of humans and animals, campers will meet the museum’s animal residents. Each day includes animal interactions, games, storytime, and crafts. The camp will feature activities such as fishing at the Grist Mill pond, searching for birds in their natural habitat, and learning to take care of their own ‘pet critter’ (pretend of course!).
Celebrate Georgia’s champions this summer! Throughout the week, campers will have the opportunity to grow their knowledge of how the sports industry is impacted by agriculture. The week is filled with field trips, games, crafts, meeting a wide array of animals, and team competition to become Explorer Camp Champions!
Inspired Explorers are invited to join us as we step back in time! We’ll journey to the past to explore life in the Wiregrass region during the late 19th century. Campers learn about careers, inventions, and engage in a variety of exciting hands-on experiences in the Historic Village at the Georgia Museum of Agriculture.
